Description

The Pseudotropheus Kingsizei Jumbo Mozambique is a substantial member of the cichlid family, originating from the rocky and sandy shores around Mozambique in Lake Malawi. This cichlid can grow to an impressive size, often exceeding 6 inches in length, characterized by its deep blue body with contrasting yellow or orange markings. As a typical Mbuna, the Kingsizei Jumbo exhibits strong territorial instincts and requires a spacious aquarium with plenty of rock formations and sandy areas to mimic its natural habitat.

This species is particularly suited to experienced aquarists due to its aggressive nature, especially during breeding. The aquarium setup should include varied topography to help manage aggression and provide hiding spots for less dominant fish. The Pseudotropheus Kingsizei Jumbo thrives in alkaline water conditions with temperatures ranging from 76 to 82°F and a pH between 7.8 and 8.5.

Diet-wise, they are omnivorous but require a diet leaning towards vegetable-based nutrients, with supplements of high-quality pellets, flakes, and occasional live or frozen protein like brine shrimp to maintain their color and health.
