Description

These striking Elongatus sp. can be found in the intermediate zone of lake Malawi grazing on any plant matter they can find.

Chailosi are not a very aggressive species and can mix into most African cichlid tanks. In our experience they will get their most intense coloring when kept in a small grouping, they will color up when kept singly as well.

This species is an herbivore cichlid, so a diet rich with plant based foods will be best for this fish. Here we feed them our spirulina flake and supplement with blanched vegetables.
