Physical Traits and Natural Habitat: Characterized by its elongated body and predatory mouth, the Exochochromis anagenys exhibits a striking pattern of three dots along its flanks, with color variations ranging from blue in northern populations to a more silver hue in the south. Adults can reach substantial sizes, with males typically larger than females.

Aquarium Setup: Due to its size, this species requires a large aquarium, ideally 6 feet or longer, to provide adequate space for swimming and territorial behavior. A sandy bottom with rock formations mimics its natural habitat, allowing the Three Spot Torpedo to engage in natural foraging behaviors.

Behavior and Tank Mates: While it has a predatory nature, Exochochromis anagenys is not overly aggressive in the aquarium setting, making it compatible with other large Malawi cichlids. However, care should be taken to ensure smaller fish are not at risk due to its predatory tendencies.

Dietary Needs: In the wild, it preys on smaller fish, but in captivity, it adapts well to a varied diet of pellets, large flake foods, and occasional live or frozen treats, maintaining its health and vibrant coloration.
