Aulonocara Stuartgranti (Usisya) or Flavescent Peacock cichlids average 5” in length. Males have metallic blue on the edges of their dorsal and anal fins and face. The male's body is yellow, from the gills to tail. The anal and dorsal fins can also be black with a light blue along the edges. Females are a mostly dull gray.
These cichlids originate in Lake Malawi, and require plenty of swimming room in a rocky tank, with places to hide. Water temperatures ranging between 77-82 Degrees Fahrenheit and a pH of 7.6-8.6 keep these fish healthy. They need a diet rich in protein. A mix of cichlid pellets, plankton flakes, and live or frozen bloodworms and brine shrimp provides a balanced diet.
Flavescent Peacock cichlids are generally peaceful and will get along with other peaceful varieties of peacock cichlids. They are mouth-brooders, and the females will carry the eggs and fry in their mouth for two weeks or more. Keep 3-6 females with one male for the best breeding results.
