Description: Maingano our found in the rocky areas just off of Likoma island in lake Malawi. This fish is commonly confused with P. johanni, it is easiest to tell them apart by looking at the females. Johanni females will be orange, where as the Maingano both male and female will sport the intense blue as shown in the photo. Maingano are an omnivore. Here we feed them a combination of Plankton Gold and spirulina. In our experience feeding them more spirulina gives them a deeper blue coloration. Some recommended tank mates are Red Zebra, Snow White, and Electric Yellow. |
