Elongatus Jewel Spot

Description

This elongatus species hails from the intermediate zone of Ruarwe reef. Here they can be found defending their territory from other fish. These fish tend to be very territorial and the fights can be rather intense.

Males can be domineering over other species that look similar to them. Demasoni are able to hold their own, but other species like Saulosi or other elongatus species tend to color down when around this species.

Jewel Spot are an herbivore cichlid. A diet rich in greens will benefit this fish immensely. Here we feed them our spirulina flake. Also, we supplement their diet with blanched greens and cucumber pieces.
