Flavimanus Cichlid

Description

Ornatus is Latin for Handsome and with the striking coloration of this beautiful hap you will find they live up to their name. Their color will start out brown and then turn to a bold red gold and finally to more of a blue as they mature. When fully grown this beautiful cichlid will start to develop their distinguishable puffy lips.

In their natural habit they are a predator which feeds on small fish and invertebrates and will roll sideways to gain access to the hard to reach horizontal cracks in the rocks.

It is recommended not to put more than one male in an aquarium as they will recognize the other as a threat. They prefer a sandy substrate for breeding.
